International students support
Our mission is to serve the poor by providing food and counselling for people who need support in Sydney and food, education and health services to those in poverty overseas since 2013.
Our local missions consist of :
– 5 weekly food Van Services. Once a week our volunteers travel to Woolloomooloo, Martin Place, Parramatta, Surry Hills and Hornsby to serve food to the homeless.
These food runs feed approximately 360 of Sydney’s hungry and homeless every week.
– Soup kitchen : Our soup kitchen also operates every Saturday in a community hall in Redfern where those in need are served a hot meal and volunteers allowed the opportunity to interact with those they serve.
– Our Home Visits program currently supports over 59 families. This program assigns MoM volunteers to visit these families in need all over Sydney, providing not only groceries and other necessities but also support and companionship ensures that we can help these families to create a better future.
– Nursing Home Visits : Often the elderly who are placed in nursing homes are not visited regularly by their families.
We organise visits once a month to two nursing homes and we talk with the residents, sing, entertain and listen to the residents. MoM volunteers bring some much needed joy and delight.
All our programs have been modified during this period ensuring that our volunteers were protected with additional equipment besides training was provided to them so that they are aware of how to operate the program without increasing their risk and exposure.
We also have International Mission in Lebanon and Philippines.
We want to assist international students. They need support as they are not eligible for Government support, and no current work due to COVID-19. The current lockdown has exacerbated the issue.
