Build our Community Vet Clinic

https://rcvc.org.au/

Regional Community Vet Clinic will build the first regional Victorian Not for Profit veterinarian clinic on land provided by Mount Alexander Shire Council adjacent to the Campbells Creek Community Centre near Castlemaine. The purpose built, relocatable building will be the centre of a low cost vet clinic providing regional Victorians in financial need much needed vet care for their companion animals. Such services are currently only available in metropolitan Melbourne, at least 115 km away. This project will deliver equity to regional Victorians.

RCVC have the building plans and have selected a local builder for the project.

A $200,000 grant from the Victorian State Government was awarded towards this project in May 2022, the maximum amount available. Maree Edwards MP, recognises the benefits of a regional low cost vet clinic to the community and is fully supportive of RCVC. An additional $200,000 is needed to fully finance the building, site connections, consulting fees for planning, bushfire assessment, soil assessment, landscaping and furnishings.

RCVC’s new clinic will provide a focus for community members interested in companion animal care and support while helping to alleviate hardship, foster social cohesion, assist local vets by providing a place to refer financially distressed companion animal owners, build a vibrant volunteer workforce and build partnerships with a wide range of community and government organisations.

The Dja Dja Wurrung people are recognised as the first peoples of Mount Alexander Shire, Hepburn Shire and Central Goldfields Shire and shall be invited to participate at the opening of the clinic building.
