Sacrededge Festival

The Sacrededge Festival is a small community festival of arts, music and ideas with a focus on inclusion and diversity. Sacrededge has been presented by the Uniting Church in Queenscliff during the first weekend in May each year since 2014. The annual three-day event provides an opportunity to nurture connection with people from diverse backgrounds, by hosting an array of musicians, poets, storytellers and artists from Indigenous, refugee and LGBTIQ communities, together with carers for the earth and oceans and those who seek to nurture mental health. People are invitedto share their personal stories and experiences. They are the voices from the edge who are vulnerable and often not heard. (see attached list of 2019 festival performers). Festival goers purchase tickets to attend the whole weekend (mostly) or single day/evening. At the heart of Sacrededge are the pre-festival conversations between our festival co-ordinator and presenters, musicians, storytellers and artists to nurture connection, safety and enthusiasm for the goal of the festival, that vulnerable people are cared for so they feel able to participate and share their stories. Festival goers and volunteers choose to participate in the event because it aligns with their values and provides them with a sense of community. The festival is widely promoted, not only to invite people to the festival, but to let the wider society know that it is not only possible to live together with all our difference, but it’s enriching and transforming.
